One day, maybe this will pay the wages...

Sitting at my computer one night having a bit of a browse, I stumbled upon someone asking for crafters willing to answer a few questions about how they earn a living. So, with nothing else to do I of course added a few of my thoughts to the mix :) And here's the results - a really informative article on the struggles of trying to forge your creative career whilst being ever aware that money makes everything tick; something that we are all unfortunately aware of, and the sacrifices that have to be made sometimes.

And talking of spending hours crafting - now I've finally stepped into the blogging world, I've got some lovely pics of some of the custom orders created at my little Craft Corner (TM) - Valentine's was the maddest I've ever known, brilliant! I'm saving the 'best' 'til last though - next week I'll be revealing my most 'obscure' custom creations...including the use of pineapples!

Well I guess it's time to tootle back to Craft Corner for a bit then - for once I have a very quiet Sunday to myself...to be finished off by a tootle over to my Best Friends', who's just come back from holidaying in Australia complete with Tim Tams - YUM! Have a lovely rest of Sunday everyone!

Swap Treats!

I took part in my first ever Swap recently, organised by the lovely Zoe of Jewelbox The only rules were keep it under a Fiver, so for my chosen Folksier, PopUpZoo, I made a new version of my 'I ♥ cake!' with a cherry instead of a candle, in lovely purple tones which I thought would suit Carol's colour-scheme.

And, after waiting excitedly for Mr Postie to arrive each day, my little pressie finally arrived, yey! Wapped up in tissue paper and tied with a lovely thin pink felt ribbon, I am now a proud owner of a delicate hand felted brooch, made of the finest Marino Wool and silk (I wonder if that's the Marino wool we kept hearing about whilst travelling Australia!)

So thank you Fiona @ Fizzy Popov, it's gorgeous! Was going to give it to my Mum for Mother's Day but then decided to keep it to myself...or may give it to her as a Birthday pressie!

I've finally done it!....

...it's only taken, um, 7 months or so, but finally I've sorted out a blog with techno gadgets that even I can understand, yey! (my lovely boyfriend Dan suprised me with a swish WordPress one...but I have to admit I didn't have a clue where to start on it!) So here you go - welcome to the creative wonderings and random musings of me, Mary, the mass-cutter-outer and demon with a knife behind Quite Contrary Crafts! I could admittedly be talking to myself a lot here...hopefully at least someone may take a peek - but it's been fun adding all the gadgets into this today anyway!

I promise far more exciting and entertaining posts in the future, involving a couple of very 'different' custom card request - had me and my housemates chuckling! So please stick around :)

Right, it's 7pm...that must be Craft Corner(TM) time - with a spot of Neighbours on the side of course! I'll leave you with one of my newest cards, specially themed for St Paddy's Day yesterday! Ta ta for now :)
